Fantastic article David. Your seven truths are a powerful blueprint for any PM wanting to move from being a "ticket pusher" to a true leader. The shift from focusing on outcomes over output is critical.

I believe there's a crucial prerequisite to embracing these truths: overcoming the internal and external pressures that hold PMs back.

For example, it's incredibly difficult to "challenge the status quo" when you're battling imposter syndrome or the feeling of being "not technical enough." It's even harder to "ask for forgiveness, not permission" when that internal self-doubt is magnified by a risk-averse company culture where failure isn't treated as a learning opportunity.

Tackling these hurdles—both our internal fears and the external realities of our workplace—is the foundation. It's what builds the courage required to take the bold, uncomfortable, and impactful actions you've laid out so well.
